The Foundation for the Advancement of Free-Market Thinking

About Us

Appenzeller Business Press AG (ARBP), a Swiss-based publisher of free-market ideas and concepts, established The Foundation for the Advancement of Free-Market Thinking in 2010. The Foundation, based in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, which is one of the most experienced and established jurisdictions in the world for establishing and operating a charitable, non-profit foundation, is built upon the idea that the best form of government is the one that governs the least.

Our focus is to promote and support the widespread advancement of laissez-faire economic principles, commonly associated with the Austrian School of Economics. We believe that civil society advances when individuals recognize and embrace the philosophy of Misesian "human action."

An advisory board of top free-market thinkers supports The Foundation in achieving its objectives. Financial assistance is provided to both individuals and enterprises that in the estimation of The Foundation can make a difference in terms of supporting the advancement of free-market thinking.

Unlike many educationally oriented non-profit enterprises, The Foundation does not offer a tax-exempt status to donors. As a free-market oriented effort, it does not seek to provide government tax benefits to individuals as an incentive for support. The reason to donate, in the estimation of those involved with The Foundation, should be the cause itself.

Accountability

The Foundation is most concerned with accountability and therefore operates with a maximum of transparency. By publishing a regular public audit of its activities and donations on an annual basis, the Foundation acts on its concerns and provides donors and potential donors with significant assurances of its credibility and viability. Contributors and the general public can see how funds have been allocated, including the amounts.

The Foundation places a premium on private, individual donations, which is another way of assuring that the Foundation is able to fulfill its mission with maximum efficiency. Since the Foundation does not seek out funding from large corporations or contributions from mainstream foundations, it is able to pursue its stated course without any undue pressure or influence being brought to bear.

Over time, many Western foundations have moved away from their stated goals as money pressure mounts; the mission is compromised by the reality of budgetary necessities. This should not, and likely cannot, happen to this Foundation.

The Foundation will be audited annualy by BDO Dunwoody, based in Herisau, Switzerland. The audit will be made available to all contribuitors.

FREE Newsletter

Register today – it's FREE – to The Foundation's regularly published newsletter, "Freedom Matters", which focuses on sociopolitical events from a free-market point of view. Each edition of Freedom Matters, published by Appenzeller Business Press AG (ARBP), reports on freedom around the world, its progress and setbacks. The newsletter is not a financial or economic publication per se, but a sociopolitical one, tracking important changes that readers concerned with these issues find both interesting and useful.

Freedom Matters analysis includes a regular discussion about an active global elite that has historically, in our estimation, tried to dominate and control free-markets through the presentation of powerful dominant social themes. These promotions aggregate wealth and power for a tiny handful of fabulously wealthy families and individuals at the expense of everyone else.

Freedom Matters is also a primary venue for tracking the exciting accomplishments of those who have received contributions from The Foundation. Each issue profiles success stories of recent recipients as well as past grantors utilizing a "where are they now" format.

Additionally, included with your free subscription to Freedom Matters, you will also receive a free subscription to ARBP's flagship news publication - The Daily Bell.

Gifting by Bank Wire
The Foundation encourages contributors to send bank wires as the preferred method of making contributions. Due to the high fees associated with cashing checks in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and to avoid paying credit card companies unnecessary fees, bank wires ensure that the maximum benefit you wish to provide is bestowed to The Foundation and subsequently to the causes The Foundation supports.

You may wire your contribution in any of four major fiat currencies: US, Canadian, Euros and Swiss Francs.

Gifting by Check

Please note that because we bank in Switzerland, the high costs associated with cashing foreign checks makes it uneconomical to process donations less than $250.
